Wilson County GIS utilizes an enterprise GIS system. Currently, there are five entities participating: Wilson County, City of Mt. Juliet, City of Lebanon, E-911, and Joint Economic & Community Development Board of Wilson County. These entities and various departments underneath each are maintaining as well as sharing data with the other participants. Also, there are three private utilities participating at various levels. Each night the data is replicated to a central server and distributed to each agency so that edits are visible the next day. This is done using the internet and does away with the need to have each agency sharing a network. In the event of a natural disaster, there are multiple copies of each agency’s data available across the county. This system is managed by the GIS Committee which is a standing committee of the Wilson County Commission. Contact information for the members of this committee is available under the GIS section of this website. The day to day operation of the system is coordinated by Julie Phillips, GIS Manager for Wilson County, in the Wilson County Planning Office at 449-2836.
